- Champion horse trainer Evan Williams has been sentenced to three years in prison for a brutal hockey stick attack on a 72-year-old dog walker.
- Williams, 55, repeatedly struck Martin Dandridge on his property in Llancarfan, Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales, on 4 December 2024.
- Mr Dandridge, from Swindon, Wiltshire, sustained severe injuries, including a fractured arm, during the assault.
- Williams denied causing grievous bodily harm with intent but was unanimously convicted by a jury at Cardiff Crown Court in March.
- Recorder Angharad Price stated that Williams had a “choice” to call the police and that taking the law into his own hands was unacceptable, despite a prior incident involving poachers on his land.
