Horse racing tips and best bets from Cheltenham, Newmarket, Ripon and Bath

The jumps season is coming to an end but there is more great action to follow this week and our man Garry Owen is back for some Thursday selections.

With packed cards at six courses across the UK and Ireland it's a good day to follow some good racing tips.

KISSESFORKATIE (2:40) looks very appealing in the Catesby Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham. Jeremy Scott’s mare produced a career best when hacking up from Bellatrixsa at Chepstow. The eight-year-old remains fairly treated so she can get the better of her old rival yet again.

LITTLE RIVER BAY (2:05) can land the odds for Phillip Hobbs in the EBF Novice Chase Final. The seven-year old improved again when comfortably accounting for Deja Vue at Ludlow.

That is strong form so this likeable mare can dish out weigh and a beating to a strong field. BARDEN BELLA (3:15) looks another excellent staying chaser for shrewd Christian Williams.

GRIVETANA (3:50) can boost Paul Nicholls’ trainers’ title bid in the juvenile handicap hurdle. The four-year-old oozed class when bolting up from Ma Belle Noire in a fair Chepstow novice.

The youngster remains upwardly mobile so she can take the step up to a Grade 3 in her stride. AUDIENCE (2:25) can boost his reputation in the EBF Conditions Stakes at Newmarket.

John Gosden’s colt rates a sure-fire improver after routing the useful Yantarni on debut here. The Pat Smullen Handicap looks very trappy but I’m backing CAROLUS MAGNUS (3:00).

Andrew Balding’s charge ended last season by hammering Bucephalus over track and trip. The gelding is nicely unexposed over a mile so he can defy a fair 4lb hike in a better event.

CRESTA (3:35) can claim a cracking renewal of the Feilden Stakes for Martyn Meade. The colt stayed upwardly mobile when second to Light Infantry in the Horris Hill at Newbury. The son of New Bay should relish stepping up to 1m 1f so he can see off some talented rivals. TWILIGHT CALLS (4:45) can make it a dark day for the bookies in the Bet365 Handicap. Henry Candy’s horse can build on his good sixth to Copper Knight in hotter company at York. FEARLESS ANGEL (5:30) can soar for David Loughnane in the Lansdowne Stakes at Bath. The speedster improved again when chinned by Feel Your Power in a Chantilly Listed event.

The filly looks open to plenty of progress so she can go one better in another warm contest.
