Horror crash survivor left with dead pals for 48 hours leaves touching tribute

A car crash survivor, who was trapped in the motor for two days beside her dead friends, has paid tribute to her late pals

Sophie Russon, 20, and Shane Loughlin, 32, were pulled from the wrecked vehicle alive in Cardiff on March 6, reports the Daily Star.

Their tragic pals Eve Smith, 21, Rafel Jeanne, 24, and Darcy Ross, 21, all passed away two days earlier, on March 4, following the horror smash.

Sophie has left a tribute to her “besties forever" on her social media, as reported by The Sun.

The image was posted on Facebook along with the caption “love you both so much”.

She remains in the hospital recovering from a broken skull and brain bleed after undergoing life-saving surgery at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

Her mum, Anna Certowicz, 42, previously said she is "awake, eating and talking" and added that "miracles do happen."

Anna added: "She will be home before we know it."

The group were reported missing by family after they did not come home from a night out in Newport, Wales.

A frantic search was launched and on March 6 the motor was finally discovered on the A48 near Cardiff, two days after the incident.

Three of the five passed away after the Volkswagen Tiguan had gone off the road and smashed into trees.

Matthew Pace, 45, and his son Lewis - a close friend of Rafel - found the car.

Sophie is understood to have been semi-conscious for the two days she was trapped in the wreck.

At the time, her mum said: "There’s no words to describe it. I can’t imagine how long it’s going to take for her to get over this. She’s going to need a lot of support."

Hundreds attended a vigil at the crash site – and another 400 turned up to Rafel's funeral on April 4.
