Hornets vs. Hawks: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks (Jan. 9)

After finishing off their road trip with a comeback win in New Orleans, the Hornets (4-5) host the Hawks (4-4) for the second time in three games on Saturday, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

In their game on Wednesday, the Hornets jumped out to a massive first-half lead, saw that advantage completely evaporate then came from behind and won on the back of Gordon Hayward’s career-high 44 points.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Hornets +3.5
  • Moneyline: Hornets +145 / Mavs -175
  • Over-under: 226.5

Advice and prediction

The Hornets have a habit of playing to the level of their competition, which is great for the neutral fan and terrible to the better. Taking that into account and adding in that the Hornets not only are on the second night of a back-to-back but are fresh off the heels of a four-game road trip.

Atlanta should be motivated to take on Charlotte. The Hawks have had two days off since falling to the Hornets at home on Wednesday.

On the season, Atlanta is the best fifth-best first-quarter team this year while the Hornets are 19th after Friday. Bet MGM’s prop bet of Hawks -3 at +145 odds is a great bet. While it’s become a trend to pick against the Hornets in these previews, Charlotte pulling off a win on Saturday would be mighty, mighty impressive. Because of that, Hawks -3.5 would also be a good bet.

Prediction: Atlanta 113, Charlotte 108
