Honda appoints Toshiyuki Yanagisawa as President and CEO of Honda Cars India

New Delhi: Japanese auto major Honda Motor Company on Thursday announced a leadership change in its Indian passenger vehicles operation with the appointment of Toshiyuki Yanagisawa as the new President & CEO of its arm Honda Cars India Ltd.

The appointment of Yanagisawa as the President & CEO of Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) will be effective from October 1, 2026, the company said in a statement.

The current President & CEO of HCIL, Takashi Nakajima, will move to the regional headquarters of Asian Honda Motor Co Ltd after completing his India tenure, it added.

Yanagisawa, Operating Executive of Honda, is currently heading the India Strategic Development Office and is also the CEO of Honda Digital Innovation India Pvt Ltd (HDII), the company said.

In his new role, he will jointly lead HCIL and HDII, the company said.

Honda has positioned North America, Japan and India as priority markets for its future growth strategy.

The India strategic development office has been working to develop India-focused strategies and execution plans to support the expansion of Honda's business in the growing Indian market, the company said.

The initiatives related to the India-focused strategic vehicle planned for launch in 2028 have now entered the execution phase, it added.
