Homohaus returns with a 'Radical Reincarnation'

Homohaus will return with the theme "Radical Reincarnation" to reflect the enduring presence of queer existence through a string of activities, which will take place at seven venues across Bangkok from June 5-14.

Held in partnership with the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Goethe-Institut, One Bangkok and Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, this third edition of the performing arts festival for diversity seeks to become a home where everyone can return, take refuge, restore their energy and express themselves without negotiation.

It also aims to foster contemporary artistic creation that reflects social voices and engages with global movements advocating for freedom, equality and human dignity.

Over the past three years, the festival has developed a wide range of initiatives to support and cultivate artists interested in creating performance works under the umbrella of gender and sexual diversity. These efforts span explorations of sexuality and queer identity, as well as the interpretation of social phenomena through a queer lens.

This year's event will open with Psychotika Disgustopa: Queer Necromancy Synthflesh Ceremony, a performance of queer necromancy that resurrects bodies and memories through ritual merged with technology, exploring body-spirit relations in the age of AI within society's forbidden spaces. It will be staged at Phahon Theatre on June 5 at 6pm.

There will be three panel discussions -- "The Queer Performing Arts Parliament: What Is Solo Queer Theatre?" at Goethe-Institut on June 10 at 6.30pm; "The Queer Performing Arts Parliament: Queer Arts Manifesto" also at Geothe-Institut on June 11 at 6pm; and a "Southeast Asian Queer Reincarnation Forum" at One Bangkok's Tower 4 on June 14 from noon.

Other highlights include a hands-on workshop on "How Do We Use Drag In Our Performance?" at PoA White Box on June 8 at 6pm; and an exhibition on "Humans, Objects, Thoughts And Non-Humans Of Homohaus" at Buffalo Bridge Gallery from June 6-14.
