Home Bargains start selling £1.49 Covid tests

Home Bargains has started stocking low-cost Covid tests in a move to undercut the likes of Tesco and Boots. The national budget retailer has teamed up with a MedTech company to offer 'accurate, reliable, and affordable' tests.

As free lateral flow testing has now been paused in Wales and free testing in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland ended earlier this year, Home Bargains is now stocking tests supplied by Dr Adams Laboratories.

The bargain brand is undercutting larger supermarkets and pharmacies with the £1.49 FlowFlex test. The single packs of lateral flow tests are available in stores and online. The move is in response to the need for accessible low-cost tests during the cost-of-living crisis, especially for those who are vulnerable.

Marysia Leigh, Dr Adams Laboratories head of commercial, believes the partnership with Home Bargains has helped reduce the costs of tests: “Working with them has so far been a pleasure, building a solid foundation of honesty and trust and we look forward to supporting them in their business throughout our relationship. Our expertise in supply chain management, means we are confident it will be long and fruitful."
