Discount retailer Home Bargains is to open a huge new store in Blackburn, creating almost 100 jobs following a £4m investment.
The firm's new shop will open on Saturday at The Peel Centre on Whitebirk Drive, with the 32,000sq ft unit also set to include a café and bakery.
The news means 99 jobs - including 97 for the local community - with the company also set to donate £2,000 to local charity Milly's Smiles, which helps families affected by childhood cancer.
Jordan Gillman, the new store manager, said: “It’s a huge honour to be opening our new Peel Centre store this weekend and something that I’m exceptionally proud of.
“I started my Home Bargains journey back in January 2020 as a store manager at our Burnley Retail Park site, having worked in the retail sector for over a decade. However, helping to launch the new Hyndburn store will be an accomplishment I’ll cherish for the rest of my career.”
Lorraine Hargreaves, founder of Milly's Smiles, said: “Milly’s Smiles feel really privileged to have been chosen as the charity to receive a wonderful donation of £2,000.
"This money will allow us to continue supporting families going through one of the worst times of their lives. A huge thank you to everyone at Home Bargains for choosing Milly’s Smiles, we appreciate it so very much.”
The new Blackburn store will join over 500 outlets across the UK, with Liverpool-based Home Bargains currently opening around 50 stores a year.
Mr Gillman added: “The Peel Centre will be a great location for us and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”
