Hollyoaks Juliet Nightingale star's life, age, birth place and emotional new storyline

Hollyoaks star Niamh Blackshaw will be front and centre in a huge new storyline after her character was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Niamh has played Juliet Nightingale since 2018 and the character has experienced many highs and lows since, including being part of the County lines drug trafficking storyline, exploring her sexuality and even being stalked. However, many will know Juliet for her relationship with Peri Lomax (played by Ruby O’Donnell), with the two often gaining huge support from fans.

The two recently split and things have since gone even more downhill for Juliet, who recently discovered she has Hodgkin's Lymphoma and will need to undergo chemotherapy treatment. Juliet has been seen struggling to tell her friends and family, and with huge scenes expected to air over Christmas, the storyline looks to be Niamh’s biggest challenge yet.

Ahead of emotional scenes on the Channel 4 soap, we've taken a look inside Niamh’s life away from the spotlight.

How old is Niamh Blackshaw?

Despite playing the 19-year-old Juliet Nightingale on screen, Niamh is actually 24.

Where is she from?

Niamh is from Manchester and, before professionally pursuing acting, she trained as a dancer at Rossendale Dance and Drama Centre from age 11, before going on to study her A-Levels in Bolton. While Niamh wanted to attend university following her exams, she decided to continue pursuing acting, according to OK .

Since joining the soap, the actress has won over fans, who she regularly interacts with on Instagram. Niamh frequently posts snaps from her Manchester home, featuring stunning outfits and nights out with friends.

She’s had plenty of other roles too

Niamh starred in Coronation Street back in 2017 for a number of episodes, playing Lara Cutler. She was a part of a hard-hitting storyline focusing on grooming, which ended with Lara taking her own life.

In 2018, Niamh starred in the short film Landline, before announcing her role as Juliet in Hollyoaks. Fans will also recognise the star from a number of TV adverts including one for Mr Kipling. In the advert she starred alongside fellow soap star Ben Hackett, with the pair portraying a sister and brother.
