Holby City fans beg for happy ending amid Jac death fears as show ends next week

Holby City fans are begging that Jac Naylor gets a happy ending as the BBC show draws to a close.

During the penultimate episode this week, Jac (played by Rosie Marcel) Jac was hopeful that Elliot could help to rid her of her terminal brain cancer diagnosis and remove the tumour from her brain.

She was taken into the life-saving operation, but once she woke up in the hospital bed, Elliot had to reveal to her that it was unsuccessful as the tumour had grown so big, with fans now convinced Jac will succumb to her illness next week.

With death now staring her in the face, Holby City viewers have called for the BBC programme to have a happy ending when it finishes next week after over two decades on screens.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Watching #HolbyCity and I swear if Jac doesn’t have a happy ending I’m going to fight someone," whilst a second penned: " @BBC worst decision you’ve ever made to cut this show….and Jac had better not die next week, it’s bad enough the last episode being on my birthday - but if you kill Jac off too #HolbyCity."

"Rosie Marcel truly is the absolute heart of Holby City. Her performance has always been incredible. As others have said, she really has well and truly excelled in these last few episodes. Jac Naylor is the absolute centre of the show and she deserves her happy ending #HolbyCity," a third fan wrote as they begged bosses for a happy ending.

A fourth said: "I'm too upset about Jac in #HolbyCity BBC already taking away my favourite programme, and you can’t give the best character a happy ending. One more episode and I don’t think it can be made right."

One fan called for Jac to survive so she could star in a spin-off show, writing: "OMG , just caught up with #HolbyCity am emotional wreck, heartbreaking episode with brilliant acting , don't kill off Jac she needs to be in a spin off."

However, another fan admitted it would be a "fitting ending" for Jac if she did pass that way.

Fans are hoping for a happy ending for Jac (BBC)

"Whilst I don't want Jac to die, it's a fitting ending. The tragedy of Jac is her loneliness and her choice to push everyone - except a very few - away. Losing her life in the place she loves works for her story. Unless Elliot finds a miracle... #HolbyCity," one user explained.

Holby City was axed by the BBC last year after over two decades on the screen, where bosses admitted it was a "tough decision".

"We’re very sorry to bring you the sad news that Holby City will come to an end in March next year, after 23 amazing years. We are so very grateful to all of Holby’s wonderful cast, crew, writers, producers - and to our millions of loyal viewers and fans for being part of our show," they said in a statement, "This tough decision reflects the BBC’s commitment to make more programmes across the UK and to better reflect, represent and serve all parts of the country."
