Historic West Country attraction is officially the best in the UK

A historic West Country attraction has been crowned one of the best in the UK. Tripadvisor has revealed that the Roman Baths is the eighth-best place to visit. Analysing 12-months of review data (May 1, 2022 - April 30, 2023) from millions of travellers across the globe, they found that tourists loved their day trips to the famous attraction.

It's one of Europe's most important Roman sites and has seen many transformations over the years to ensure it still has a unique offering. Models, both physical and virtual, help visitors understand what they are seeing, and there are audio guides narrated by Bill Bryson on hand for visitors.

With a 4.5-star rating on Tripadvisor, hundreds of people left raving reviews. One person said: "Much more to see than simply the baths. Includes an underground tour showing the roman road and artefacts that have been unearthed. We learnt a lot more than we expected. The tour was modern and professionally curated. Great experience and really pleased we did it."

Another person said: "This is the whole reason we went to Bath and I was not disappointed. The reenactors are very good and be sure to look closely at the golden head of Minerva."

A third wrote: "The exhibit is fantastic! We loved exploring the baths and seeing the history. It was a tremendous experience!"

Topping the list for the best attraction in the UK was Royal Yacht Britannia, in Edinburgh. Welcoming over 390,000 tourists annually, this experience allows people to step aboard the late queen's former floating palace.

One person wrote: "Superb value for money visit £50 for a family visit. 1.5-2hrs of true Royal history. Kids and us absolutely loved every second. Immersive and informative.

"We just loved the Queen and the Royal family and love them even more after the visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia. It’s unique and completely recommended."

In second and third place were the National Gallery and Tower of London.
