SHIMLA: Himchal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has once again stepped in to save a precious life by providing his chopper so that a patient under medical emergency could be airlifted in time for treatment.
This time Sukhu got a serious patient airlifted from the Killar town of Pangi valley in Chamba district, in his official chopper by cancelling his scheduled tour. Few days back in a similar gesture he had airlifted a serious patient from remote Mayar valley of Lahaul-Spiti district.
The patient who had received serious throat injury in an accident needed immediate specialised treatment as specialist doctors are not there in Killar so doctors after giving him primary treatment referred to outside the valley on which the family members requested the government to make arrangements to airlift him through the chopper on which he was shifted from Killar to government medical college at Tanda in Kangra district.
The patient is being attended as per the reports received from the doctors.
CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the hospital authorities to treat the patient free of cost and provide him every possible assistance.
He said that the government mulls to strengthen the health facilities in the far off and tribal regions of the state. He said that adequate doctors will be posted in such areas, so that the people living in hard and tribal regions could get adequate medical attention with the best facilities.
In a video message, Pritam Lal, the brother of the patient, has thanked the chief minister whom he termed as 'saviour' for their family for saving the life of his brother. Recently, the chief minister had provided his official chopper to airlift a seriously ill patient from Chhaling village of Mayar valley in Lahaul-Spiti district.
Sukhu has been in the limelight for his compassion towards the needy and destitute since he has assumed the office of the chief minister.
After taking oath, he went straight to an orphanage to enquire the wellbeing of the inmates and immediately took a decision that the State government will constitute chief minister's Sukh Ashraya Sahayata Kosh with an outlay of Rs 101 crore so that the facility of higher education could be provided to needy children and destitute women.
Later he also announced, to provide Rs 500 as festive allowance to the students.
