SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet on Saturday approved to engage 3,970 para workers on an honorarium basis in the Jal Shakti Department for schemes across the state. Consent was given to fill up 389 posts of panchayat secretaries through Staff Selection Board. Moreover, the Cabinet also underlined that steps will be taken to ensure jobs for ‘Agniveers’.
In order to encourage innovation and research in agriculture and horticulture sector, the Cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Jai Ram Thakur gave its approval to provide research fund of Rs 5 crore each for Agriculture and Horticulture Universities of the state.
Moreover, in order to ensure free and fair conduction of examinations by the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission, Hamirpur, the Cabinet decided that recruitment/examination conducted would be brought under the preview of Himachal Pradesh Prevention of Malpractice at University Board or other Specified Examination Act, 1984.
The Cabinet also decided to amend the Himachal Pradesh Widow Remarriage Rules-2013 by making a provision of providing grant of Rs 65,000 instead of existing Rs 50000 to the couple.
Approval was also given to fill up six posts of assistant professors in IGMC Shimla and Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialty, Chamiana, through direct recruitment.
The state has also decided to fill up 73 posts in the Excise Department for effective implementation of Excise NDPS and other regulatory legislations.
This would not only safeguard government revenue but also re-assert Government’s commitment to combat drug menace in a holistic manner.
