Highway workers rescued after getting into difficulty on busy motorway viaduct

Twelve highway workers have been rescued after getting stuck on elevating platforms during maintenance work on the pillars of the Friddizza viaduct in Italy.

Footage posted by Vigili del Fuoco shows the workers being brought down from two elevating platforms using ladders and ropes on Tuesday afternoon (8 July).

“The #SAF unit from the #Cosenza command brought them safely back to the ground,” Vigili del Fuoco wrote.

The Friddizza viaduct is located on the Mediterranean motorway in Italy, in the province of Cosenza near the town of Dipignano.
