Hibs wait on Celtic isolation decision from Scottish Government ahead of Parkhead clash

Hibs will need to wait until lunchtime to find out if their trip to face Celtic tonight will go ahead after their return from Dubai.

Jack Ross' men are due to travel to Celtic Park to take on the Hoops but the Glasgow side might be forced into a period of self-isolation.

The Scottish Government announced on Sunday night that Dubai was now on a list of countries where people must isolate on return.

And they urged anyone who had come back from the country since January 3 to isolate for 10 days from the date of their arrival back in Scotland.

Ordinarily, Celtic would be exempt from the ruling because of the elite sport exemption, but a positive Covid-19 test for one of their players means there's worries they could lose that privilege.

According to the Daily Record, it's suggested that Nicola Sturgeon and the Scottish Government will make their call on Celtic by lunchtime today.

Neil Lennon's men are due to face Hibs on Monday night and already have three games on rivals Rangers, and missing tonight's game would make it four.

It would also mean the Easter Road side would be without a game, having initially been angered by the decision to move the match to Monday night from it's original Saturday slot.

It could also lead to punishment from the SPFL if they're forced to miss the match, with Kilmarnock and St Mirren already suffering forfeits this season.

Both clubs have appealed that decision and are awaiting an outcome but Celtic will be nervous of similar happening.

It's unclear which Celtic player suffered the positive Covid-19 test with the Hoops saying every other member of the squad or management staff returned negative tests.
