Hibs star gives 'honest' verdict on controversial penalty vs Rangers

Josh Campbell was initially unsure if Hibs or Rangers had been awarded a penalty during Sunday's match at Ibrox.

The referee, Don Robertson, halted play after an off-the-ball incident involving Vanja Dragojevic and Jason Kerr. The decision was clarified only after a VAR review. Campbell took the penalty, sending Rangers' goalkeeper Ivor Pandur the wrong way, and putting Hibs ahead.

However, Campbell admitted he was in the dark during the delay. He said: "I hadn’t a clue. I thought we had given a penalty away, if I’m honest with you.

"Then I was told that I was taking it and I was like, ‘Alright, it must be our penalty’."

He added that the delay in the decision added to the pressure and that he was unaware of who the penalty was awarded to until it was given to Hibs.

Campbell concluded: "I was just happy to step up and score."
