Hibs set for Euro millions boost as Scottish Cup success ramifications are explained

Hibs could be set for a £3million cash boost if they go on to win this season’s Scottish Cup.

Dundee United stand between Jack Ross ’ team and a place in the final, where either St Johnstone or St Mirren will join the winners

After Rangers were eliminated at the weekend, the eventual winners will qualify for the Europa League play-off round, leaving them just 180 minutes from the lucrative group stages.

Getting that far would net the Easter Road club around £5million, although it could be a tough ask given the pedigree of opponents they are likely to face.

However, all is not lost if they don’t make it, as they would drop straight into the group stages of the newly created Europa Conference League, earning them a cool £3million according to the Scottish Sun.

Either way, the cup winners are guaranteed six Euro ties and will be involved up until Christmas.

Even if Hibs don’t lift the trophy for a second time in five years, they are well on course for a third placed finish in the Premiership, which would see them into the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League.

While that would require them to negotiate three rounds to reach the group stages, the level of potential opposition would be much more favourable than what they would likely face in the Europa League.
