Hibs new signing Adam Le Fondre in 'f**ck off' reply to Hearts rival and former teammate

Hibs new signing Adam Le Fondre has revealed he told a former teammate - now at Hearts - to 'f**k off' after they sent a text to welcome him to Edinburgh.

The veteran striker is relishing the capital clashes against the city foes and especially can't wait to face one player in particular. The ex-Reading and Bolton goal machine has joined up with Lee Johnson's men after sealing a switch from Sydney FC where he used to share the dressing room with none other than Hearts Cammy Devlin.

The pair were teammates in 2018 but soon became rivals when Devlin moved to Wellington Phoenix. And Le Fondre is looking forward to meeting again both on and off the pitch.

The 36-year-old has told how Devlin sent him a message to say "we'll need to catch up" with the two set to share the same city again. But Le Fondre quickly replied the expletive two word answer.

Speaking about the Scottish game Le Fondre told of his excitement to face the Jambos as well as Rangers and Celtic.

Le Fondre said: “The big draw for Scotland is Celtic and Rangers. Those games will be really exciting but the game I’m most looking forward to is the Edinburgh derby because I watched that last game and the atmosphere was unbelievable.

“The Sydney derby was a great derby but this one is a level up on that and the rivalry is unbelievable so I’m excited to make an impact on that. Funnily enough, Cammy Devlin messaged me straight away and said, ‘Oh, I hear you’re going to Hibs, we’ll have to catch up' but I just replied, 'f**k off!'

“I know what he’s like, he’s a little wind-up merchant so I’m looking forward to seeing him on the pitch as well. It’s a shame we have to wait until October to play Hearts but I’m just enjoying each game as it comes and I can’t wait for the start of the season.”
