Hibs manager search: Former Hamilton boss is bookies' favourite to replace Jack Ross

Alex Neil could be back in Scottish football soon with the former Hamilton Accies player and manager the bookmakers' favourite to become the new manager at Scottish Premiership side Hibs.

The capital side sacked Jack Ross this morning after he took four points from a possible 27 in recent games, with last night's 1-0 defeat at Livingston the final straw for the Hibs hierarchy.

And now Neil - who was named along the early contenders for the Rangers job last month before the Ibrox side appointed Gio Van Bronckhorst - is the 5/4 favourite to succeed Ross with bookmakers McBookie.

Just last night Neil told BBC Sportsound he would be keen to manage in Scotland again, having enjoyed spells down south with Norwich and Preston North End since leaving Accies in 2014.

Speaking last night before Ross' exit, Neil said: "I think I’ll certainly manage in Scotland again if I get the right opportunity.

"Whether that’s short term, as in the next job, or in future I’m not sure.

"My career started in Scotland, I came back to Scotland and I’ll probably come back to Scotland.

"If the question is could I manage a top six team in Scotland, the answer will be yeah.

"You don’t know what the future holds and the next job I do take, I need to make it a success."

Former Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes at 5/1 and St Johnstone boss Callum Davidson at 8/1 are also among the early contenders.

Hibs have a Premier Sports League Cup final against Celtic in 10 days time and Scottish Cup-winning hero David Gray will take interim charge for the 'foreseeable future' as the club look for a new permanant manager.
