Despite McCann's suggestion, the Hibs Observer reports that the Easter Road club are 'adamant' they won't sell Bowie before this evening's 11pm deadline.
Celtic are said to be scrambling to sign two centre-forwards after a move for Kasper Dolberg appears to have hit a roadblock.
Ajax have reportedly approached Anderlecht to sign the Dane as a replacement for Brian Brobbey, who is on his way to Sunderland.
Dolberg prefers a return to the Netherlands over a move to Scotland.
It remains to be seen what Brendan Rodgers' squad will look like come the close of business tonight.
