Hibs forward Florian Kamberi has not sealed Rangers loan return despite initial reports

Florian Kamberi has not left Hibernian to rejoin Rangers on loan until the end of August - despite reports suggesting otherwise.

The Swiss-born forward has been persona non grata at Easter Road since making controversial comments over a “dream” loan move to Ibrox in January.

Kamberi was set to return to Hibs for pre-season training last Monday after the season was ended early due to Scottish football's coronavirus-induced shutdown.

On Sunday morning, it was reported a deal had been struck with Rangers to take him across the M8 for the Gers' Europa League round of 16 return leg with Bayer Leverkusen later this summer.

But Edinburgh Live understands that is wide of the mark and the wantaway forward remains a Hibs player for now.

The Glasgow Times also reported Kamberi's future was in limbo, adding reports of a move had been 'rubbished'.

Hibs were believed to have held talks with at least one club over his transfer, with any deal set to be completed in instalments.

It was reported clubs in Cyprus, England, Germany, Poland and Turkey were considering a move for the striker.

Hull City allegedly had their move for the forward knocked back by the Easter Road club, while fellow Championship outfit Brentford and Swiss club FC Basel have also been credited with an interest in the past.

Earlier in the summer, it was reported Rangers had ended their interest in signing the player on a permanent deal and were pursuing other targets.

Kamberi is understood to be keen on a move back to Ibrox but as yet, no deal has been struck.
