Heung-min Son hails ‘unbelievable’ Harry Kane after Man City heroics: “Working with him is a big honour”

Heung-min Son showered praise on Harry Kane after Tottenham’s incredible 3-2 win away to Man City.

Kane had put Spurs 2-1 ahead in the second-half, only for Riyad Mahrez’s stoppage-time penalty to seemingly earn a point for Pep Guardiola’s side.

But there was still time for Kane to head home a 95th-minute winner in front of the travelling fans, keeping Spurs’ top-four hopes alive and blowing the Premier League title race wide open.

Son set up Kane’s first strike with a lovely cross, the 36th time the pair have combined for a goal in the league. That matches the record set by Frank Lampard and Didier Droga.

After the match, Son played down his involvement in the record, and instead focused on his delight that Kane is once again regularly getting on the scoresheet.

“I was really sad at the start of the season when he didn’t score the goals and people were talking,” Son said.

“He was working for the team and playing for the team. You could see today he was working hard.

“He’s an unbelievable player and an unbelievable guy as well. Working with him is a big honour.

“We’ve been waiting for a long time (for the record). I didn’t do many things, sometimes I cross the ball and he is inside the box and finishing so well. We are glad to have this record and hopefully many more to come too.”

Kane was back to his inspired best, not just with the two goals but his all-round play causing City problems through the 90 minutes.

Tottenham’s striker was relieved that he had once last chance to win it after Mahrez’s late penalty.

“Crazy game, we worked so hard for so long,” Kane said.

“To concede a penalty in the last minute was so heartbreaking, but we managed to find another chance and thankfully I was able to put it away.

“That’s what the Premier League is all about - great game for every one. Our fans will go home happy today.”
