Heroin worth Rs 31cr seized in Manipur, cop & two others held

IMPHAL: The Kangpokpi district police on Monday confiscated 2.1 kg of heroin worth over Rs 31 crore in the international black market from two drug peddlers, superintendent of police Amrita Sinha said on Wednesday. A police head constable posted in Churachndpur district was arrested in this connection on Tuesday, while two others were apprehended the previous day, she added.

Under the SP’s supervision, a team of Kangpokpi police station led by two sub inspectors — Hemjamang Khongsai and Raju Singh — carried out a checking drive of vehicles plying along the Imphal-Dimapur highway in the district on Monday afternoon. The team stopped an unregistered car driven by one Solensei Haokip (23) with an occupant, Jamgoulen Haokip (21), of Churachandpur district, she said.
