Vet saves Scots dog's sight after two-inch stick lodged in eye socket

A dog that got a stick embedded in her eye socket has had her sight saved by vets.

Mia the six-year-old collie emerged from playing in a hedge with a two inch piece of wood embedded in her skull.

Her vet in Doune, Perthshire, referred Mia to specialists led by Ben Blacklock at Edinburgh University’s Royal (Dick) School for Veterinary Studies.

Her owners feared she had lost it (PA)

After a CT scan, the stick was removed without an invasive operation, leaving Mia with only a superficial eye scratch.

Her owner Paul McGlynn said: “We are grateful to the team who treated her.”
