Here's why the Duke of Wellington statue is 'sporting' a trendy new cone

Folk making the commute this morning in Glasgow might be wondering why the Duke Of Wellington has a trendy new cone hat in a change from his usual bog-standard traffic cone.

And it certainly seems like he has stepped things up a gear fashion wise, with the statue sporting a black cone with gold Adidas stripes on his 'napper'.

The new piece of headwear on the statue has been put there to promote an exhibition of new works by Glasgow based artist Ross Muir - famous for his 'Square Gogh' painting of the Dutch post-impressionist painter in an Adidas trackie.

Titled 'It Takes A Thief', the exhibition takes place in Cass Art on Queen Street in the city centre and is open to the public from today (Saturday September 28) until Saturday October 5.

The opening times of the exhibition are 9am to 6:30pm, except on Tuesday October 1, when it will be closed to the public from 10am to 12pm.

And from what we can gather from his recent social media posts, some of the new works look fantastic and well worth a look!
