Here's when indoor and outdoor live events will be allowed to go ahead in Scotland

Live entertainment and cultural venues will have to wait at least another six weeks to reopen.

Provisional dates have been given to the industry which has been forced to remain closed since the beginning of lockdown over four months ago.

Live entertainment sites and cultural venues including theatres and concert venues will not be able to reopen until at least September 14, and will only be able to do so if the country continues to s uppress the virus.

However, it's hoped that live events such as concerts and comedy will be allowed outdoors with physical distancing from August 24.

Nicola Sturgeon said that the country must not make any changes that could jeopardise the reopening of schools on August 11.

She added that a full assessment of the significant changes already made must be made before any further restrictions are lifted.

Speaking at today's briefing, the First Minister said: "I know that the challenges these decisions pose for the cultural sector are significant and that this further delay for arts venues will be disappointing.

"For that reason, we are increasing the value of our Performing Arts Venue Relief Fund - which opens for applications today - from £10 million to £12.5 million to provide further support for the culture sector.

"Please believe me when I say that I fully recognise the impact of the decisions we are taking. I know how difficult this situation is for those sectors and activities who are facing a long wait before they can resume.

"We do not take any of these decisions lightly - but at present, we are not confident that we can restart all of these activities safely within a shorter timescale. Doing so could risk a resurgence in the virus and undermine our ability to get children back to school."

The news is likely to come as another blow to venues which are already struggling under the lockdown.

A number have already taken to fundraising to help see them through the closure.

As previously reported by Glasgow Live , Sub Club and The Glad Café called on customers to help support them through the pandemic.
