Here's how Amazon Alexa could help you to perform basic CPR in an emergency situation

Knowing how to perform CPR is an invaluable skill that could potentially save a life.

If someone collapses nearby and stops breathing, you should always call 999 straight away and then begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

But not everybody is trained in CPR and professional advise that you should do hands-only CPR if you do not have the training to do rescue breaths.

Your first port of call should always be 999 and then operators can walk you through the necessary steps until emergency services arrive.

There's also a little known trick on Amazon Echo's Alexa that advises the necessary steps on what to do should you want to be aware of them in case of emergency.

By saying "Alexa, activate emergency CPR" she will advise you to first contact emergency services.

Then she will explain how to safely do chest compressions and even uses a metronome to check it is being done the correct way.

Even though it's a handy trick, you should never use Alexa as a substitute for emergency services.

After contacting 999 it could be helpful when trying to carry out CPR while waiting for paramedics to arrive.
