Hengrove Way Bristol: Armed police and negotiator on scene as knifeman storms petrol station

Armed police and a negoiator are at the scene of an incident which involves a man armed with a knife in a Bristol petrol station.

Officers were at the scene within five minutes of being alerted to Hengrove Road incident at 7.36am this morning (September 9).

One person has been injured and staff remain in a 'safe room' but are keeping in contact with police.

Avon and Somerset Police said in an updated statement: "Police are at the scene of an incident which has led to the closure of Hengrove Way, Bristol.

"A man armed with a knife is inside the shop of the petrol station.

"Staff members are uninjured within a safe room and in contact with officers.

"One person left the scene and gone to hospital with injuries not believed life-threatening.

"Officers were called at 7.36am and on the scene by 7.41am. Armed officers and a negotiator have been deployed to try to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

"Members of the public are urged to avoid the area."
