Helen Skelton teased about Strictly Vito dating rumours as she breaks cover on Radio 5 show

Helen Skelton took to Radio 5 Live on Sunday morning - and found herself being teased by her co-host on her relationship rumours.

Presenter Helen, 39, was joined by a host of guests to discuss the week's events.

After talking to guests including James Cracknell and Nick Knowles, Helen briefly touched upon the elephant in the room as the show came to a close.

As Helen and news reader Steve teased each other, it was Steve who appeared to have the top trump up his sleeve, saying after she asked what's happening: "Just looking at the papers. Er, the front page of the Mirror is interesting."

Helen quickly burst into an awkward laughter as the sheepish Countryfile presenter realised her co-star was talking about the Sunday Mirror's story about her growing close to Strictly professional dancer Vito Coppola.

Helen quickly burst into an awkward laughter as the sheepish Countryfile presenter realised her co-star was talking about the Sunday Mirror's story about her growing close to Strictly professional dancer Vito Coppola.

After thanking Steve for his contributions to the morning's show, Helen swiftly told him: "Put the papers down, thank you."

It comes after the Mirror was told Helen and Vito, 30, have "bonded" after spending time together on the Strictly Come Dancing tour.

Mum-of-three Helen was a finalist in the latest edition of the show after impressing judges and viewers with her routines alongside Gorka Marquez.

Away from the floor, her split from rugby star husband Richie Myler, 32, was highly publicised in the months leading up to her stint on the show.

But now it appears she's ready to give love another go thanks to her link with Italian Vito – who also made the final with singer-songwriter Fleur East.

The pair's growing closeness is said to have caught the attention of fellow stars behind the scenes and a source said on Saturday: "Helen and Vito were good friends during Strictly, but really bonded on tour."

They added the pair found they had a lot in common and spent a lot of one-on-one time together throughout the tour.

"Then, if the whole group went for dinner, they would sit together, deep in conversation," the source added.

However, in a bid to avoid speculation the insider claimed the pair would quickly distance themselves from each other if anyone looked likely to start recording them.

Previously speaking of her time on the show, Helen thanked it for helping her to feel “liberated”. She has previously admitted: "I’ve found my confidence on the dance floor."
