Helen Flanagan reveals Coronation Street return was derailed by 'awful' illness

Helen Flanagan revealed her return to Coronation Street was derailed after falling ill with an 'awful' sickness.

The soap star is best known for her role as Rosie Webster on Corrie as she discussed the possibility about returning to acting. Helen, 32, appeared on Friday's instalment of Loose Women and revealed her initial plans to return to the show fell through when she developed a nasty illness during her pregnancy.

Helen suffered with hyperemesis gravidarum while she was expecting her three children - Matilda, seven, Delilah, four, and Charlie, two. Speaking on the ITV chat show, she said: "I had hyperemesis and I became really poorly with my pregnancy, it was awful."

The condition affects pregnant women and symptoms include severe, nausea, weight loss, vomiting and dehydration. Helen is now a proud mum-of-three and while she has taken a step back from acting in recent years, she admits she'd love to return to the soap and make Rosie a mother.

She said: "I would love Rosie to be a mum. I would love to come back at some point and Sally being a grandma. I'd like to do that. I think that would be great."

Talking about her time on Coronation Street, they showed a throwback snap of Helen when she started in 2000 aged nine, Jane Moore pointed out: "Obviously, your oldest daughter is the age, pretty much, you are in that photo?

"What does she think about you, does she know about the Corrie days?"

To which Helen replied: "So, I did tell her I was going to the jungle and I YouTubed a few clips. She was like: 'Mummy, you were rubbish! You were awful!'"

Linda Robson, who starred on the 2012 series of I'm A Celeb alongside 22-year-old Helen, quipped: "You were, you were, honestly!"

Helen continued: "'Mummy, you were rubbish!' - so I had that pressure, I couldn't let my little girl down when I was there [for the new All Stars version], you know.

"I'm naturally like a wimp, I naturally am, I'm scared of heights, spiders, snakes, you name it. I don't do anything like that!"
