Hegseth works to optimize men’s ‘biological foundation’ in new military requirement

  • Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced mandatory testosterone level testing for military service members over the age of 30 as part of their annual health assessments.
  • Hegseth stated the testing aims to ensure optimal testosterone levels for performance and offers the option of testosterone replacement therapy, emphasizing it's about restoring natural capabilities. “It’s not about artificial enhancement, it’s about restoring and optimizing your natural capabilities,” Hegseth said. “Protecting your longevity and ensuring you have the biological foundation required to sustain the fight.”
  • Service members under 30 can opt for voluntary testing, but no one will be required to undergo medical treatment if a deficiency is found.
  • This new requirement is part of Hegseth's broader initiatives to enhance military fitness, eliminate "fat troops ," and align the military's image with the agenda of Donald Trump .
  • Previous measures implemented by Hegseth include a new Army Combat Field Test, waist-to-height ratio submissions for Air Force members, a sex-neutral physical fitness test, and stricter grooming standards.
