Heathrow planes 'collide' sparking large emergency service response at airport

Two planes reportedly crashed into each other on the ground at Heathrow Airport. Passengers reported seeing around ten police cars, along with fire engines, following an incident on Wednesday night (September 28).

MyLondon reports that one passenger who claims to have been on a flight, which is being blocked, said they were taxiing on the runway when they "suddenly got stopped by all these emergency services". According to the passenger, they were then told they were returning to the gate "due to a technical issue".

The incident reportedly happened at around 8pm. The Daily Star reports that Heathrow has confirmed the crash took place but said that it was not a "full on" collision.

Reports on social media suggested the incident involved Iceland Air flight 767 and Korean Air flight KE908, with the tip of one plane's wing scraping the tail of the second plane. The Korean Air flight was due to leave London at 7.35pm bound for Seoul.

An airport spokeswoman said no injuries had been reported, the PA news agency says. She said: “Emergency services are attending an incident involving two aircraft on the airfield.

“No injuries have been reported but emergency services are attending to ensure all passengers and crew are safe and well.”
