Heather Mills: I only dated carnivores to 'convert' them to veganism and then dump them

Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills has revealed she would date meat-eaters just so she could “convert” them to veganism and then dump them.

The model and vegan activist - who split from the Beatles legend, 81, in 2006 - has been in a relationship with producer Mike Dickman, 39, since 2019.

But before settling down with Dickman, she revealed she would only date “carnivores” so she could “wean” them off meat, fish and dairy.

The 57-year-old animal rights campaigner said she would then break up with them and find a new meat “addict” to switch to veganism.

Mills compared the process of introducing meat-eating men to meat, fish and dairy alternatives to giving methadone to heroin addicts to get them off the class A drug.

“I wanted to convert carnivores. I only date carnivores and then convert them, and then I dump them, and then move onto the next one,” she told the Daily Mail.

Mills went on: “People say, 'Oh my God, I could never go out with meat eaters', and I say, 'Yes, you can – just convert them.'

“I ended up dating a lot of people and finally I've settled for one [Dickman] and I can't let him go, because he's passionately got behind it, and influenced millions more people.”

She explained that it felt like she had “solved an issue” by ensuring Dickman remained vegan and “influenced” other people to become vegan in the future.

Mills is thought to have met the actor and producer on a train while she was with her 21-year-old daughter Beatrice, whom she shares with McCartney.

She slipped Dickman her details in a note during the journey and they began dating shortly afterwards, according to the Mail On Sunday.

The couple are not thought to be engaged or married but reportedly exchanged commitment rings just before Christmas 2024.

Mills got divorced from McCartney in 2006 after four years of marriage.

She sought a £125 million settlement but was awarded a fifth of that sum – £24.3 million - which she said she was “very, very pleased with”.

Mills found veganism in 1993 after her leg was amputated following a road accident.

She sought alternative therapy as a last resort after sustaining an infection that seemed untreatable amid complications with her leg.

She found that the infection cleared up after she eliminated meat and dairy from her diet and treated her wound with natural remedies.

The former model has founded several vegan and plant-based businesses, most notably VBites Foods, a meat-free and fish-free food company.

She also runs Alternative Stores, an online shop for vegan products, and Be At One Beauty, a vegan makeup line.
