Hearts won't risk Peter Haring but Aidy White could play this season

Craig Levein won’t take any risks with Peter Haring against Kilmarnock this weekend if there’s a chance his injury could flare up again and put him out the following week.

The Austrian has been missing since the Scottish Cup semi-final win over Inverness at Hampden with a groin issue.

He was set to train again this week and isn’t definitely out of the weekend Premiership clash, but Levein is conscious that Haring has played through the pain before and ended up missing more games.

"It's much better,” said Levein. “But I don't want to push him this week and the thing flares up again and then being a doubt about next week's match."

The Hearts boss did reveal that fans could see Aidy White in action before the end of the season.

The free transfer signing has been out for two years due to injury, but was signed on a two-year deal earlier this season with the plan being to get him fit in time for the next campaign.

That appears to be going well, with a run out this campaign a possibility.

“He is coming on,” Levein said. He is now running without any pain. “We might see him before the end of the season but I just want to make sure he is right before we put him on the field in a competitive match.

“It’s quite a while since he has played competitive football. We certainly won’t see the best of him until next season but he is making progress and has a smile on his face.”
