Hearts transfer state of play as Jacob Davenport earns training chance and Lee Sueng-woo set a signing challenge

It has been a busy summer for Robbie Neilson's Hearts side, but their transfer business is not done yet.

The Jambos secured third place last season, but are looking to come back even bigger and better with the task of European football also facing them. It was a good start to the Gorgie side's cinch Premiership season as they kicked off with a 2-1 victory over Ross County at Tynecastle.

Hearts have also now know who they will face first in Europa League play-off. Robbie Neilson 's side will take on the winners of Linfield vs Zurich, with victory securing them a spot in UEFA ’s second tier competition for almost the rest of the year. The Tynecastle boss has been vocal about his plans to further strengthen his side before getting his teeth firmly into the 2022/23 campaign. And there are certain players who could fit the bill. Jacob Davenport and Lee Seung-woo have been strongly linked with a move to Scotland's capital.

Record Sport lays out the current state of play at the Jambos ahead of the Edinburgh derby on Sunday.

Jacob Davenport

Former Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City midfielder Jacob Davenport is currently training with the Jambos in the hopes of securing a contract. The 23-year-old is being assessed by boss Robbie Neilson alongside his coaching staff as they look to further strengthen their squad.

The left-footed central midfielder is currently without a club after departing Blackburn upon the expiry of his contract on June 30. And now he has travelled north in a bid to impress in Scotland's capital.

Davenport has already held preliminary talks with Hearts officials, with more discussions expected place this week.

Lee Seung-woo

Hearts have also been linked with South Korean forward Lee Seung-woo. The forward has attracted interest from a number of clubs this summer but has been offered a three-year deal with the Tynecastle club, according to Edinburgh Evening News. The 24-year-old former Barcelona starlet is currently playing for South Korean side Suwon, impressing in the K-League this season. The winger has enjoyed 22 outings, netting 10 times across all competitions.


The South Korea international spent five years in the famed Barcelona La Masla academy before spending time with Hellas Verona and Sint-Truiden. The player also has 11 international caps under his belt.

Speaking about his player's situation, Suwon manager Kim Do-kyu, said: "It's so much harder to win a game without Lee Seung-woo. He is a unique player that gives us a lot of options. There has been no official offer from Hearts, but we know there is interest. From the player's point of view, he has a better chance of returning to Europe by continuing his excellent performances for us at Suwon."
