Hearts friendlies confirmed as Jambos schedule four warm up games this week

Despite last week’s Covid outbreak, Hearts have confirmed four pre-season friendlies for this week.

A scheduled meeting with Berwick Rangers last Friday night was cancelled after five positive tests within the Tynecastle club’s football department were confirmed.

However, Saturday’s game at Linlithgow Rose did go ahead with the Jambos running out 6-0 winners at Prestonfield.

John Rankin stood in for boss Robbie Neilson due to Covid issues and watched as Finlay Pollock, Liam Boyxe (2), Michael, Armand Gnanduillet and Makenzie Kirk found the target.

And their preparations for the new Premiership season continue this week.

Two XIs will be in action this evening. Lowland League outfit Civil Service Strollers are up first with a 6pm kick-off at Christie Gillies Park.

Two hours later, a different Hearts team takes on Spartans at Ainslie Park.

This weekend sees a step up in quality as the Championship winners face Ayr United on Friday night before playing Falkirk on Saturday.

The matches against Ayr and the Bairns will both take place behind closed doors and be played outside of Edinburgh.
