Hearts Europa League play-off earns BBC billing as Jambos crucial Zurich clash to be televised

Hearts will have their Europa League play-off first leg against Swiss champions FC Zurich televised.

BBC Scotland have confirmed that they will be showing the match next Thursday after broadcasting Dundee United's dismal 7-0 loss to AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League qualifiers. It's a huge game for Robbie Neilson's men as they look to make the Europa League group stages and set themselves up with a prize worth millions, on top of potential competitive glamour games.

The game in Switzerland next week kicks off at 18:00 BST on Thursday, with coverage starting at 17:45. A return leg will beckon at Tynecastle a week later on August 25th. Before that though, Neilson's Hearts team are focusing on a Premiership clash with Dundee United at Tynecastle this Sunday. He said of the Euro clash with Zurich and a potential United backlash from their continental mishap: “It’s a good tie for us.

"Obviously it’s going to be very difficult against the Swiss champions but we believe we’ve got a good team here and we’ll go and try and win the game.

“We know we need to be at our very best to try and progress through the round but I believe we’ve got the players to do that.

“I would expect a positive reaction. They’ll come out and make it very difficult for us. They’ll be hurting after such a big defeat so we need to be ready for it."
