Hearts and Hibs transfer window dates confirmed although Scottish clubs could face huge dilemma

Hearts and Hibs can now sign players from other clubs as the 12-week summer transfer window opens.

However a potential FIFA extension granted to leagues still trying to finish their 2019/20 season could cause a headache among Scottish clubs.

In Scotland the window officially opens today, on June 10, and will run until September 1.

But other European leagues not due to finish until the end of July, or start of August, are set to be given an extension which could run into October.

This means Scottish clubs could lose their top players to big money offers without the opportunity to bring in replacements.

Belgian clubs would be in a similar position, and Gent general manager and league director Michel Louwagie has spoken out about the issue.

He said: "This would create huge difficulties for us.

"We are counting on FIFA to take this into account when they make their decision on the transfer window. Otherwise, we have a big problem."

And KV Kortrijk chairman Joseph Allijns said: "Without an adjustment for Belgium and the other leagues who have stopped their season early, we will be put at a serious disadvantage."
