Hearts 2-0 Partick Thistle as Steven Naismith sets up Craig Halkett for superb goal in routine win

Hearts continued their pre-season with a routine 2-0 win over Partick Thistle.

Goals from Jamie Walker and Craig Halkett either side of each half sealed the win for Robbie Neilson's side.

The Jambos took the lead early on through Walker as he continues his scoring run and gets back to full fitness after a long lay off.

It was a lovely passage of play between Jamie Brandon and new sigining Elliott Frear as the former Motherwell winger dummied a pass allowing Brandon to put it on a plate for Walker.

The midfielder blasted his effort into the net to put Hearts in a well deserved lead.

The Jambos were unable to double their advantage before the break, but had plenty of opportunities to do so.

There were a few changes at the break as Steven Naismith and new recruit Jordan Roberts replaced Walker and Frear.

And Naisy was heavily involved in Hearts second goal to give the Jambos some breathing room as he set up skipper Halkett.

The defender stole the ball in the middle of the park and after beating a few men, slipped Naismith through on goal as the talisman took it round the keeper.

He could have went for goal himself but instead squared it back to the trailing Halkett who tapped it home as Hearts secured the victory at Tynecastle.
