Heartbroken fiancé of tech CEO fears he was murdered after skeletal remains found

The grieving fiancé of a missing tech CEO fears his partner was murdered after skeletal remains were found in an abandoned apartment building.

The remains found by a homeless man in Santa Monica, California were confirmed to be that of police statement read, who was last seen in surveillance footage at a corner shop 17 months prior.

"I don't know when I'm gonna be able to get through a conversation without crying about Beau", his fiancé Jason Abate told the US Sun.

He continued: "The Beau that I knew was a very kind and caring person who cared more about me and other people than he did about himself. Pushing me to my full potential was a big part of our relationship.

"He wanted both of us to do really big things."

He said he does not believe the death was self-inflicted because, he was a "scaredy cat" and would not go to unknown areas or "wind up in a situation like that."

The heartbroken fiancé believes that Mann could have relapsed, but said that his partner was always careful and had taken himself to the hospital in the past when he returned to drugs.

Mann got in an Uber outside a 7-Eleven store near the LA offices of his company Sober Grid — a community platform for people in addiction recovery — and texted 911 from inside the car, then was dropped off in Santa Monica, according to Sober Grid.

He was reported missing four days later, on December 4, 2021 and his remains were eventually found a mile away.

A police statement read: "On April 25th, 2023, the Santa Monica Police Department received information that human remains were found in the courtyard of an abandoned property in the 2900 block of Santa Monica Boulevard.

"The Los Angeles County Coroner took possession of the remains and are currently working to determine the cause of death. On May 6, 2023, the Coroner positively identified the remains as those of Beau Mann."

"I'm just glad that we were able to at least text 'I love you' to each other each night," Abate, who lives in Michigan, said.

Santa Monica Police Lieutenant Erika Aklufi said that his death is being investigated as a possible homicide, especially as he had texted 911 but didn’t respond to authorities’ attempts to follow up.

She said: “It was a gibberish text maybe and then he didn’t respond. It’s just another thing that we’re going to be looking into.”
