Heart-wrenching moment Mark Hudson tells his kids he's lost Cardiff City job caught on video

The moving moment Mark Hudson was consoled by his children after telling them he had been sacked as Cardiff City manager has been captured on camera.

Hudson's time as Bluebirds boss was up on Saturday evening after Will Keane hit a 96th-minute equaliser at Cardiff City Stadium, consigning the Welsh club to nine games without a victory.

It ultimately spelt the end for Hudson, who had been in permanent charge since November, having taken over from Steve Morison on a temporary basis in September.

Hudson has often cited just how much Cardiff means to his family, with his two sons having been born in the Welsh capital during the former Bluebirds skipper's time as a player there.

And his wife, Marie-Louise, with whom he has three kids, posted a video which will tug on the heartstrings for Bluebirds fans, no doubt. The video on social media portrays the contrasting emotions between the time he told his children he had first got the job on Steve Morison's coaching staff a year ago and the day he was relieved of his duties last weekend.

The first portion of the video shows the excitement on the kids' faces after Hudson told them he had got the call from Cardiff to go back as an assistant manager, with one of his children stating he was going to "tell all his friends" before hugging his dad in a particularly touching moment.

Then there is a hard-cut to the second half of the video, during which the former Bluebirds boss tells the family he was no longer the manager and that they would pack up and head home the next day. Both of his sons, again, ran to embrace their dad after hearing the news. "Don't worry," Hudson can be heard saying, "that's football."

Marie-Louise's caption alongside the video was equally moving. It read: "I’ve debated over whether to post this video or not, it’s personal, it’s raw, it’s a high and a gutting low.

"It’s very easy to just post the highs, the perfect parts of your life on social media, but that’s not real life. It’s also a side to football (unless you are in the football world) you won’t ever see.

"Mark's chapter at Cardiff has ended and we are gutted. This video shows the time Mark got offered a position at Cardiff and what an opportunity that was. A chance to go back to the place we call home (and will always call home) and place where we hold so many precious memories, a place that we have friends that are family, the city our boys were born in, the place that gave us peace after tragedy.

"Some may ask why I have recorded the last video but I wanted to record it for the boys, for Mark, to show them when they are older and also to show how much this opportunity meant to us as a family.

"Football can test you to your limits, test your relationship, take you away from your family but as always we will do this journey together. We will always be Mark's number one supporters and we are so proud of everything he accomplished so far.

"As Mark said “That’s football”. It’s a rollercoaster and one that we will ride for years to come. Thank you to everyone that has supported us."

The video certainly elicited a strong reaction from Bluebirds supporters on social media and only reaffirmed to many that, for what he did during his playing days, he will of course remain a club legend.
