Hear Gazza and Peter Beardsley's previously unheard attempts at rapping on World in Motion

Never-before-heard audio has emerged of Gazza and Peter Beardsley recording the rap in World In Motion.

New Order's iconic track was produced for the 1990 World Cup with producers pickinged John Barnes' rap for the final cut.

However a YouTube clip has surfaced, showing both Newcastle United legends attempt to spit bars during the recording sessions.

As you will hear Jay-Z probably doesn't have much to worry about.

However, to their credit, both former Toon stars give it their all with Gazza's version starting around 50 seconds in, while Beardsley's. haunting effort at around one minute 25 seconds in.

Sadly, the reviews haven't been too kind - especially for Pedro's verse, with one listener describing his take as "haunting".

"I'd love to have seen everyone's facial expressions when Beardsley started to rap," posted another, although one YouTube viewer claimed they actually preferred his version to that of Liverpool winger Barnes.

To be fair to Peter, his talent was undoubtedly in his feet and not his flow. He was that good with the ball, Chronicle legend John Gibson named him the greatest ever Newcastle United player.

And as for Gazza, this wasn't the end of his music career - when he almost topped the charts with a cover of Fog on the Tyne with Lindisfarne.

Their attempts at the track have come to light after they were shared by Omega Auctions, a specialist auction house for music and culture memorabilia.

They were made public to promote an upcoming auction organised by Peter Hook, the New Order and Joy Division bassist.

And even the firm admitted that Beardsley's take was something you simply "have to hear".
