Hear Cornershop reinvent their debut album

Longterm fans of Cornershop will know their debut album, Hold On It Hurts, to be a scuzzy, noisy affair. They may be in for a shock when they hear Hold On It’s Easy, then, for those same songs have been given a somewhat sprightly orchestral makeover.

Inspired by the film soundtracks of Henry Mancini, as well as the music of Johnny Harris, the band’s Ben Ayres describes them as “swinging work outs – you can imagine copious amounts of chiffon flying around!”

The album is out on 2 February, but you can hear two tracks in advance on the stream below. Born Disco; Died Heavy Metal has become upbeat and funk-flavoured, whereas Change now boasts a gentle, easy-listening vibe to it. Both are a lot of fun - so have a listen and let us know your thoughts in the comments!
