'He wouldn’t' - Liverpool fans divided on Rafa Benitez new Everton manager rumours

Liverpool fans have been voicing their view on rumours linking former manager Rafa Benitez with a return to Merseyside.

Benitez spent six years in charge at Anfield from 2004-10, and still lives on Merseyside with his family.

The Spaniard has expressed his desire to return to management in the Premier League after leaving China last year.

Rumours in recent days have claimed that Benitez is in the running to be the new manager of the Reds' local rivals Everton.

According to the Daily Mail , Benitez is in ‘serious contention’ to be the new boss at Goodison Park to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

The report states that Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is “increasingly keen” on the idea of the former Liverpool boss taking over at Goodison Park.

Liverpool fans saw the latest rumour and took to social media to express their thoughts and emotions on the possibility of Benitez managing their local rivals.

Here is a selection of what they had to say.

Paul Clarke: “Be gutted if Rafa took the Everton job , but he is without doubt the best & most qualified manager available.”

Nik: “Given time and resources, he would make Everton hard to beat.”

Jake: “Rafa loves Liverpool. He wouldn’t.”

Shrop_Allotment: “As an LFC fan who thinks Rafa is a god, if this is true then I'm happy for Rafa as he loves the city of Liverpool. At the end of the day if Everton come 2nd to us every year I'd still be happy.”

Irish Kop: “I'm sure I'm with many reds and would hope Rafa does well, but I'm sure many bitters would remain bitter at this appointment. He still has a home in Liverpool.”

Jack: “I wouldn’t mind it to be honest, Rafa loves Liverpool and he will be working a job he likes. It’s not ideal for us but he will still be a Liverpool legend nonetheless.”
