'He was such a creep': Angela Scanlon reveals 'very well-known' star's inappropriate behaviour on The One Show

The One Show presenter Angela Scanlon has revealed a “very well-known” male star acted in a “creepy” way towards her moments before they went live.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, 41, has been regularly filling in for main presenter Alex Jones on the BBC show since 2016.

She revealed the unnamed celebrity appeared as a guest on the program and asked if she was wearing any underwear just seconds before their interview began.

Scanlon said she was “ready to burst” over the inappropriate question and felt torn between wanting to “expose” him and remain professional.

“I was doing a live show one day. Before we started recording it was myself and a male co-host and there was a male guest who's very, very well-known,” she said on Where There's A Will, There's a Wake podcast.

“He was sat opposite me, and I'm like a busy woman, I was like learning where we were going, I was understanding when the VTs were dropping and whatever else.”

The Your Garden Made Perfect host went on: “I welcomed him in with open arms and I sat down and did what I had to do, which is my job, which is what he was there to do, presumably.

“Anyway, just before we went live, he turned around to me and he said - I was wearing jeans and a blazer, not that that should matter - but he said, ‘Are you wearing panties underneath those?'

“And then, boom, we are live on air.”

Scanlon said she carried on with her hosting duties but was “ready to burst” and wanted to call him out on-air.

“He was such a creep. It was too much,” she recalled.

“The raging internal conflict because I'm a woman who stands up for herself, but I'd have been unprofessional if I had in that situation.”

Scanlon started out as a fashion journalist in Ireland, before presenting Robot Wars, The Voice UK and the BBC Three documentary series Angela Scanlon’s Close Encounters.

The presenter - who appeared on Strictly in 2023 - also recently announced a new podcast with former reality star Vicky Pattison.

Scanlon previously admitted she “had no idea what she was doing” when she first got the One Show hosting gig and had lied to a producer about her experience.

“[The producer] said, ‘Have you ever done studio?’ and I said, ‘Yeah I've done loads of it in Ireland,’” she told Spencer Matthews on his Big Fish podcast.

“Then I went off to do Robot Wars and I got a call to say, ‘They want you to fill in on The One Show.’ I was on a train practising how to read autocue and I had no idea what I was doing.”
