'He'd be like Kenny Dalglish!' - Jurgen Klopp names current Liverpool star who could replace him

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been tipped to take over from Jurgen Klopp at Anfield - by his current manager!

The midfielder, who could start against Everton this afternoon, has been put forward by Klopp after being asked in a recent interview who might fit the bill.

"[Henderson] would be the right age!" Klopp light-heartedly told talkSPORT.

"He can be player-manager like Kenny [Dalglish] for the next three years and everything will be fine!"

Henderson will turn 31 next summer but recently stated he would like to continue playing until he was 37. By the time Klopp's contract is up at Anfield in 2024, he will be around 34.

"It’s no secret what this squad thinks of Jurgen Klopp," Henderson said before Liverpool faced Chelsea in July.

"If you think as supporters you appreciate what he has done for this club, you can multiply that by a hundred for the team: he is our leader – he has set the tone for all of this from the day he walked in.

"As I have said previously, and as the manager has said himself, he took over from great foundations laid by Sir Kenny and Brendan [Rodgers], and from players like Stevie [Gerrard]."

Whoever takes over from Klopp will have a difficult task to emulate his success, but Liverpool fans will be hoping that problem is a significant period down the line.

Everton vs Liverpool kicks off at 12.30pm today. Follow our live updates here.
