Have you ever met your hero?

Kevin Wells, from Sheffield, has told of the surreal night he drove the group Public Enemy to their gig, after a taxi that had been booked failed to show up. Wells was at a CD signing by the band when they put out an appeal for someone to help them get to their concert. He proceeded to escort them to the Sheffield Arena in his Ford Focus. “I’m local to Sheffield so I know all the back streets to get there pretty sharpish, so I didn’t feel too tense,” Wells explained.

Kevin got the band to their destination well ahead of time, but had to decline the free tickets he was offered for the concert, as he had to go to work.

We want to know if you’ve ever met a famous person. Have you encountered your idol in the flesh? Were they as fantastic as you’d hoped, or a huge disappointment? Did you meet a celebrity only to fail to recognise them until afterwards? Is the old adage, never meet your heroes, true? Tell us your unusual encounters.
