Hatton Garden-style raiders 'nab £1million gems from London jeweller's store'

Detectives are hunting a gang of thieves who raided a central London jeweller’s store at the weekend - after thousands of runners had taken part in a half marathon.

The daring robbers broke into George Attenborough & Son on Fleet Street while it was shut at the weekend.

Police were called at 2am on Monday - just hours after around 13,000 joggers had run past for the London Landmark Half Marathon.

It was reported tonight that around £1m of gems had been taken, but police would not confirm this.

It was also claimed that the robbers may have broken in using drills to gain access to the secure building.

The jeweller’s occupies the ground floor of a five-story building in Fleet Street.
