Not even Mohamed Toure saw his extraordinary goal-filled start to life in England coming.
The Socceroos striker continued his magnificent build-up to the World Cup by netting a second-half hat-trick to steer Norwich to a 4-2 Championship comeback victory over Bristol City.
The 22-year-old Aussie now has eight goals, including two hat-tricks, and three assists since joining Norwich from Danish club Randers in January.
It's the type of form that has the irrepressible striker looming as one of Socceroos boss Tony Popovic's most exciting weapons for group stage games against Turkey, the United States and Paraguay come June.
When asked if he'd envisaged a start like this to his time in England, Toure said with a grin: "Nah I can't say I did.
"I just wanted to come here and learn and improve and take my game to the next level but I didn't expect to score this many goals in this short of a time.
"It's amazing. It's an amazing feeling to score this many goals and help the team out."
The win, which lifted ninth-placed Norwich to just eight points outside the playoff places with three games to go, also marked Toure's first start since his return from a groin injury.
"I think that's the most important thing," Toure told Norwich's club media.
"Yes, scoring goals and assists (are important) but the most important is that my body is starting to feel better.
"Slowly, with the physios, they're helping me feel better week in, week out.
"So I think that's the most important for me, the next step is to get my body to 100 per cent."
Bristol were ahead inside two minutes after Sam Morsy hit a sweet right-footed shot past Vladan Kovacevic from just outside the box.
Then Toure scored his hat-trick in the space of just 25 minutes to turn the game on its head.
Norwich equalised after 51 minutes when Toure had a glancing header brilliantly saved by Radek Vitek but recovered to stab home the rebound in a crowded six-yard box.
Moments later Toure was cautioned for simulation, going down inside the box under challenge from the advancing Vitek.
A quick break out of defence allowed Oscar Schwartau to outpace Bristol's back-line in the 70th minute to set up a simple tap-in for Toure.
The South Australian somewhat fortuitously completed his treble five minutes later by deflecting in Paris Maghoma's 25-yard strike.
It was the Australian's second hat-trick for the Canaries, after he scored a remarkable treble on his starting debut for Norwich against Oxford United in February.
Jose Cordoba made it 4-1 after 78 minutes with a far-post header from Kenny McLean's cross.
Substitute Sam Bell fired a stoppage-time consolation for the home side, but could not prevent Roy Hodgson's first defeat in his fourth game as interim head coach.
"I'm very happy to contribute to the win today," Toure said.
"We got off the blocks pretty slow and in the first half we weren't up to it and then we came out in the second half with a different mentality and we just showed what we could do."
Elsewhere in England, Socceroos midfielder Alex Robertson sealed promotion to the Championship with League One club Cardiff City.
Nestory Irankunda played 77 minutes as Watford lost 2-0 to Sheffield United and Cam Burgess played a full game in Swansea's 2-1 defeat to Southampton.
Harry Souttar was again on the bench as Leiceister City lost 1-0 to Portsmouth.
