CHANDIGARH: Haryana Police on Monday foiled an attempt to push a big drug consignment into the state after it seized 740 kg of ‘doda post’ from a container truck in Sirsa district.
Three accused were also arrested in this connection.
They were identified as Balkaran Singh alias Kaka and Pinder alias Sonu — both residents of Ellenabad — and Mandeep Singh alias Meeta of Talwada khurd.
A Haryana Police spokesperson said on Monday that the seized contraband was being brought from Madhya Pradesh for supply in Dabwali and Ellenabad areas.
The approximate cost of the doda post is said to be Rs 30 lakh.
A police team during patrolling on National Highway-9 near a dhaba noticed two persons inside the container were taking out a plastic bag and putting the same into a jeep.
After seeing the police party, persons in the vehicle panicked and tried to flee away.
The police team immediately nabbed three persons.
The team found 37 bags of doda post weighing 740 kg hidden in wheat powder filled in the container.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered against the accused.
